August - Cornflower free embroidery pattern

I can’t believe that we are in August already and the start of the month means it’s time to share another in my series or free embroidery patterns. You can find the library of freebies on the free patterns page - just enter your email address to receive the pattern(s) of your choice straight to your inbox (and all future free patterns).

There is a roundabout nearby that has the most beautiful selection of wildflowers growing on it. Red poppies, white daisies, cow parsley, buttercups and a pop of blue cornflowers.

I could have picked any of them but thought cornflowers would make a great beginners embroidery project. I stitched my cornflowers so the edge of the petals finished in different places to represent the zig zag edge to the petals. Stitching in this way means that it is a great pattern for beginners as you don’t need to worry about getting a perfect smooth edge finish to the petals. At the centre of the flower are hairs and stamen which means you can have a bit of fun in representing these in embroidery.

The free pattern contains just the pattern itself for you to trace and stitch however you think is best.
